Occupational Therapist

                                   Occupational Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities: Occupational Therapists help patients who are mentally, emotionally, or physically disabled adjust to handicaps and regain abilities to perform daily living and self-care skills.  They work as part of a team with physicians, counselors, and physical therapists.

Most occupational therapists are employed at hospitals, and many work at nursing homes.  Some work at schools for the handicapped, rehabilitation centers, or at adult daycare centers.

Salary: $26,000 - $45,000

Education: Students who want to become occupational therapists should take the most challenging high school math, science, and English courses.

All states require required either a bachelor's or master's degree that includes clinical experience and completion of a national examination to become a certified occupational therapist.

Reflection: Maybe I would like to become a Occupational Therapist because I would like to help people in need on how to adapt to their new lifestyle.

Duties and Responsibilities: Nursing Home Administrators plan and direct operations of nursing homes and long-term care facilities. They supervise personnel, financial, medical, and nursing administration. 

Most work in nursing homes, but some work for large corporations that control many facilities.  Some are also involved in teaching and research.

Salary: $40,000 - $55,000

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to become a nursing home administrator because am not looking forward to this career.

Well i think am not doing good because as a right know am failing one class but i'm going to work hard to get my grade up by the end of the semester.In other classes am doing very good i think i can't fail a class if i want to graduate on time.

I think it means that sometimes challenges causes people to give up pretty easy and some continue to work hard and don't give up easy like for example failing classes makes people don't really care but if you work hard you can pass all your classes.

Duties and Responsibilities: Health Information Specialists obtain, post, and analyze medical, workload, finance, and insurance data.  They ensure that this information is properly recorded into medical records so practitioners can plan and evaluate health care provided to patients.

Health information specialists work in hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, physician offices, and many other medical settings.

Salary: $20,000 - $25,000

Education: Students should take high school courses in business, information management, science, math, and English.

Coding specialists must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.  Training is usually conducted on the job, but classes are offered at technical schools and community colleges.  To become certified, specialists must pass an examination.

Reflection: I might like to become a health information specialist because they do research and record data.

Duties and Responsibilities: Health Sciences Librarians and Library Technicians collect and organize medical information and help practitioners find the information they need for patient care, education, research, and administration.

Library technicians assist librarians in organizing collections, shelve books, manage circulation desks, answer patrons' questions, and perform administrative duties.

Salary: $20,000 - $30,000

Education: Students should take challenging high school courses in information management, science, math, and English.

Health sciences library technician training varies by employer.  Some provide on the job training, but all prefer that students complete library technician programs at a community college or technical school.  Associate's degrees can be earned in many of these programs.

Reflection: I think I would like to become a Health Sciences Librarian because I would like to do research.

Christmas Break

Both technicians and technologists perform laboratory work to identify, diagnose, and treat diseases.

Salary: $20,000 - $28,000

Education: Students should take the most challenging high school courses in, science, math, and English.

An associate's degree in the field or completion of a specialized in-house training program is required to become a clinical laboratory technician.
