Emergency Medical Technician

           Emergency Medical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities: Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (EMT-B) respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility. After receiving the call from the dispatcher, the EMT-B drives the ambulance to address or location given, using the most expeditious route, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The EMT-B must observe traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation.
Average Salary: $23,830- $40,421
Education:
·        The first level of EMT education is EMT-Basic. These programs may be completed in several weeks and teach students pre-hospital procedures like patient assessment and emergency management. Students will become familiar with basic equipment, such as backboards, stretchers and splints. Clinical experience in a hospital and with an ambulance team is also required.
·        Individuals who hold an EMT-Basic certification may enter an EMT-Intermediate training program, although there may be experience requirements in some states. EMT-Intermediate programs may refresh upon topics included in EMT-Basic training, but will teach advanced emergency topics as well. Courses in biology, anatomy and physiology may be part of the curricula. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the nationally defined EMT-Intermediate levels require 30-350 hours of training, depending on the scope of practice.

I think I don’t want to be a Emergency Medical Technician because am not into the medical stuff I’m more into technology.
